NEXT UP! NEW WINDOWS AND DOORS!

CATTERY SUCCESS! Everything is painted, the new sinks and cabinets are in and the cats are all getting settled into their newly remodeled facility, thanks to all the efforts of our community, with special thanks to volunteers Jarrod Swicegood who installed the cabinets and sinks; the fantastic team of McComb Electric, who installed all the lighting and electrical outlets for just the cost of materials; Kim Marchant, who painted nearly everything; Steve Shafer and Jenn Andersen, who built the dividing walls in the adoption and quarantine rooms, and Cat Program Manager Linda Dunbar, helped by volunteers Monica McMahon and Patty Mason, who put the finishing touches on the cabinets, paint, and organizing all the new nooks and crannies.    We could not have done it without you!!

OUR NEXT PROJECT:  However, we cannot rest yet! We need to get our electric bill down.  It is currently running at about $1200 per month.  We know this is primarily due to our huge single pane windows and poorly sealed doors letting in the cold.  The windows are also leaking in a number of places.  So, our next project is replacing all the commercial windows and doors.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP.  Unfortunately, due to insurance and warrantee issues, the windows and doors will need to be commercial grade and professionally installed by a commercial window contractor.  We have a bid from a company in Klamath Falls for $30,000.  We are working on a foundation grant that we hope will cover 2/3rds of this expense, but we need to provide the remaining $10,000 to get the project done.  Please consider participating in our Forever Yours Pet Mural project to help us raise these funds.

"FOREVER YOURS" PET MURAL.

Anyone who donates $250 toward our Capital Campaign will be eligible to send in an electronic photo of their favorite pet. This photo will be converted to a 6"x 6" ceramic tile, similar to the one shown here, and added to our outdoor Thrift Store mural wall commemorating the pets of residents and visitors of Modoc County.  Send $500, and we will put up two tiles, etc.  Donors contributing $1,000 or more will also be listed on a special “Guardian Angels” plaque that will be made part of the mural.

We are so nearly there!  Please help us finish our repairs and improvements to our facilities so we can better help the homeless and needy pets of Modoc County.   Send your contribution today to “Forever Yours”, c/o HPHS, PO Box 1383, Alturas, CA  96101.  Please make your tax deductible check payable to “High Plateau Humane Society” and include your email address as well as a phone number so our Treasurer can contact you about your tile.
